Verify before you wrench. Values here are compiled reference figures for the L28 / L28E as fitted to the 1975–78 280Z. Specs changed between model years, markets (federal vs. California) and transmissions. Always confirm against the Nissan Factory Service Manual (FSM) for your exact car and the emissions label under the hood.

Engine Specifications

Core figures for the 280Z L28 with Bosch L-Jetronic fuel injection.

Rebuild Specifications

Clearances, tolerances and wear limits for machining and reassembly. Measure with a micrometer, bore gauge and Plastigage — and compare against the service limit column.

Bolt Sizes & Torque Specs

Thread size, wrench/socket size and torque for every fastener you'll touch on a teardown. Nissan uses fine 1.25 mm pitch on most M10 and M12 hardware — don't mix coarse-thread bolts in.

Cylinder Head Bolt Sequence

Tighten from the center outward in the order shown. Loosen in the reverse order (outside in). Head bolts take a 10 mm hex (Allen) socket.
